Bit of a (Chicago) Day
I took an extended break over the holidays; in all, I was off work from December 16 to January 3. With Christmas and the New Year in there, I had a few plans lined up, but generally the time was my own. I went to see a movie on a Tuesday afternoon. I finally washed the five loads of laundry I’d been putting off as long as possible. As the days wore on, though, even I had had enough time on my couch. Open House Chicago Adventure
A few months ago, as I was in the throes of processing a move back to the midwest, I did a bit of free association writing therapy. It totally helped process some heavy shit, which got my head on a bit straighter and led to some writing I actually published: my Chicago lists. The whole point of the lists is to keep me present in the life I’m leading today, rather than pine for the adventures I’d had in New York. And for the most part, it’s working. Weekend Adventure – Sunday
We can all agree Sundays are pretty much the best, right? No need for an alarm clock and nothing but potential in the foreseeable future, the threat of Monday morning far enough away that it isn’t quite real yet. Last Sunday in particular was lovely in the way reserved for Sundays. I’ve taken to quiet Sunday mornings, waking up when I will (or when Audrey will have me) and enjoying coffee and breakfast with CBS Sunday Morning and Meet The Press. And no, I’m not in my late sixties. It’s just nice to take my time one morning a week, to have no where rush off to.
